GUITAR SOLOS by Frank Wallace
inspired by Spanish themes:

Nuevas Cantigas $8.95 This Medieval suite for guitar comes from a passion for the pure melodies and harmonies of that period: five original pieces with two arrangements of authentic medieval music, Imperayritz from the Llibre Vermell and a Cantiga de Santa María.

Débil del Alba $8.95 Written for dancer and guitar solo, Débil del Alba is is an impressionistic piece in three sections inspired by a poem of Pablo Neruda.

Dreams on a Lullaby $8.95 Variations on the famous Catalan folksong Noi de la Mare, made famous by Miguel Llobet. A sweet and luscious song in 6/8, the theme travels through major and minor versions that often interweave and conflict with each other with a surrealism reminiscent of the painter Dalí

Sketches II $18.95 Contains six suites of progressive difficulty including Garcia Lorca's Dream, Orientale and an homage to Dionisio Aguado, Good Winds for Dionisio, eleven variatons on an original theme inspired by Aguado.

Cunctipotens Genitor $6.95 In 1979, when Trio LiveOak spent three months singing in the Romanesque chapels of Catalunya, Spain, Wallace fell in love with medieval sounds. This piece starts with the chant alone and weaves a modern tapestry of polyphony and instrumental fantasy around the three sections of the tune.

From the Windy Place $8.95 The windy place represented here is the coast of Spain north of Santiago de Compostela where Wallace and Knowles travelled in 1982 after giving a concert for the festival Música en Compostela.
